I forgot to mention I saw GOF on saturday, which isn't to say I didn't like it, though I'd say POA was a better movie for being more self-contained and making with the sense for non-readers. Both my bro and I felt rather sorry for anyone who hadn't read the books in the first twenty minutes of the film. So many random scenes and so quickly. I thought it was kinda odd what parts of the Quidditch cup they decided to show (some more focus on Krum would have introduced his character more) and all the mechanical bits of the stadium really aren't what I'd expect from the wizarding world. While on that topic actually, what's up with wizards and building completely gratuitous platforms/arenas in this film?

Let's see, couldn't stop making Dr. Who jokes every time Tennent was on screen. Loved Voldemort, and the whole resurrection scene which surprised me cause I was pretty sure they'd fuck it up. Only thing I missed was the "three deatheaters" line which so intrigued me in the books.

Really, really wanted the dark mark scene with Snape *sigh* I just knew they weren't going to film it. Bastards. Hated the floo talking too. The books clearly state how it's supposed to look, dammit, and it'd be a hell of a lot easier on the special effects department if they did it that way.

Loved the dragon scene, but it really was overlong. Second task was as boring as I remember it being, funny that.

Myrtle hitting on harry was funny as hell, but I can't really blame her now that he has those amazing fanfic muscles...

I liked neither the Death Eater's outfits or their masks which puts me one up on most people since most seem to like one or the other. I thought the masks were less scary than they could have been since ones with less emphasis on features (ie, more blank and stylized) are a hell of a lot scarier and the hoods, while a valid fashion choice, just aren't cutting it these days are evil paraphenalia.

I started laughing when I heard Cho's accent, then realized I was the only one in the theatre who could identify a Glaswegian accent and shut up...

You know, the maze was all creepy and stuff. Nice atmosphere, but honestly didn't seem that challenging. I did like how all the kids in the theatre shut up and looked seriously scared though.

The scene that really had the most emotion for me was when Harry came back with Cedric's body. They did a very good job of contrasting the happy music with such an utterly horrific moment.

Wish we'd had a glance at the foe glass by Harry in that final scene with Crouch since that would have been cool.

Interesting seeing OoTP and HBP characterizations creeping into both Snape and Dumbledore's performances. Speaking of Snape, the study hall scene was really entertaining (not to mention George (or was it Fred) asking out Angelina). That dance lesson by McGonnagal was kinda OOC, especially some of her lines.

Overall, the kid actors all seem to have gotten better. I wasn't actively wincing as I do during the first two movies, and part of the third. Krum was very nice on the eyes, which was kinda odd... and Cedric wasn't so much (but then I don't go for generic pretty boys), not to mention his characterization had him as a bit more of a prat than in the books.

The ball scene was weird in many ways, though I mostly felt sorry for the various girls (excepting Ginny *L*). Have had both fantastic dances, and really horrible dances and the whole scene was realistic enough to remind me of them.

Thought the girls school/boy's school thing with Beauxbatons and Durmstrang was stupid, but have to admit I liked their entrances (especially Durmstrang *stares* Yummy.)

Overall, the plot started to come together once the Triwizard tornament was focused on, but they let a lot of things slip and could hae focused a bit more on parts, and made the flow of the story a bit better.

Went to the doctor today. He handed me some antibiotics and sent me back home. Rather anticlimatic, but drugs are hopefully good. And I'm writing the second chapter of Fake Flowers because it's fun to torment Kakashi in a nice way instead of in horribly traumatic ways *looks at chapter 5 of Silver and Gold* *whistles innocently*
