Today was the start of the new year at Bujinkan, which means a new school/art (since Bujinkan has nine schools). I forget the name of the new school (as usual), but it's very different from what we were doing the last year, which is good since I was beginning to feel kinda complacent. Sensei Jack was very happy, as evidenced by the injuries on the ukes. We moved very quickly through a lot of techniques most of which involved a minimum of movement and were very "light" so to speak, though a lot of them hurt like hell if done with full strength (the inital strikes at least). My partner, J. is always pretty gentle so I don't really have any injuries that I can feel atm. I feel sorry for him though since he's one of the ukes, and I have this instinctive ability to hit the exact right spot (ie, where he's already been hit by sensei) when it's my turn. It was lovely to do new things and play around. I don't think I've actually trained in this school before (or if I did, it was several years ago and I was to new to remember) so some stuff was actually new. In fact, we learnt an entirely different way to punch today which is very... odd. I can't even think of a time I've ever seen anyone punch like this. Needless to say, I was horrible at it, but I'll practice at home and get better.
My bro got all of the GTO manga for christmas, or rather, vols 14-25, which he insists I read at a frentic pace so he can lend them out to friends. As a result, I've read up to 19 in the past few days. I love GTO since it's so insane, but I do wish I could read it a bit slower (since I'm currently reading lots of fics instead). Ah well. It's amazing how the author "tops" himself so to speak with each volume. You think there's no way things could get any worse or over the top and yet there they go *L*
I've been watching the Dark Tournament saga in Yu Yu Hakusho. It's making me nostalgic for the manga. That, and I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible for Hiei to keep his shirt on for more than a couple of episodes *g*
I did write some Silver and Gold yesterday. I'm not really sure why I haven't finished off the new chapter. I know almost everything that's going to happen, I just seem to get distracted every time I open the document. Meh.
