I watched the Doctor Who Christmas special last night (yes, I know it took me awhile to get around to it). I'm kinda amused that the Doctor is always horrible at sword fighting (others might disagree with me about this fight, but really, the choreography was horrible - though I suppose for Doctor Who it was brilliant...). Can't really say much about the 10th doctor yet since he spent half his time sleeping. I'm left wondering if regeneration is even meant to be attempted off of Gallifrey. Perhaps Romana's ridiculous excuse about being tired of her old body (or whatever) was actually a cover for her needing to regenerate in a controlled enviroment. It would certainly explain why the Doctor always has so much trouble. Rose was pretty whiny this ep, and I wish she wouldn't keep stringing Mickey along, though I suppose she just figures he'll take the hint. Who knows? The previews for the second season look intriguing enough. I'll be glad for more historical stuff.

Also watched House, and One Piece and Paradise Kiss. All of which are excellent in their own unique ways. I was over at [livejournal.com profile] cedarlibrarian's this weekend, where we watched the Saiyuki anime (first time for her). I think I've been spoiled by Reload cause all I can do while watching the old one is bitch about how poor the characters look compared to in reload. Oops. We also watched Return of the King EE, though not very closely since I'm sure I missed half the new scenes. I'm proud we actually did manage to watch a full LOTR movie though *L* I got to say hi to the kitties too:) I'd forgotten how weird it is to have a cat sleeping on you;)

I'm currently reading the rest of GTO, which just continues to be brilliant and over the top. Unfortunately, my bro stole my copy of Saiyuki Reload 2, so I have to wait to read it *pout* I read the first manga of Dragonball instead and I'm really thrilled with it (probably because it's nothing like DBZ). It's funny and cute and surprisingly raunchy (all things considered). Goku is adorable, if a bit worrying, at that age, and Bulma is so self-centered and egotistical, it's scary. *L* I'm loving all the Journey to the West parodies. I've got up to vol. 3 to read, which I'm looking forward to. Am also reading the third book of the Bartimeaus Triglogy - Ptolemy's Gate which is quite interesting. I'm liking the time skips (forward and backwards), even if the historical flashbacks aren't historically accurate...

In real life, I've been helping my family. I seem to be the unofficial beta reader for everybody. I practically rewrote my brother's entire college essay. It pained me how horribly written it was. Thank god he's going into computer engineering, but surely it's not a big expectation to think a senior in high school should know the difference between periods and commas? *shudders* I've also been editing letters for my dad, who is having trouble with his former employer and wages. Meh.
