Sleepover was wonderful. Didn't see anything really new except for more Saiyuki:) Did rewatch the first episode of Jungle Wa again and was amused to find it as mind bogglingly insane as I remember it being. Left around noon for Bujinkan seminar (four hours of training approx.).
The first hour or so was a bit annoying since the only other woman there (out of about thirty men) sought me out to train with me (probably on the hopes that I'd be gentler, which is a fat chance considering who trained me). This wouldn't have been too much of a problem if she hadn't been, to put it politely, 'fragile and old'. I usually expect another black belt to punch properly at least, something that always throws you off, but you feel bad telling them to work on their punches. Anyway, she couldn't have her wrist twisted, nor be thrown certain ways, nor. etc, and since I still don' t have a belt she assumed I was a beginner for awhile until she got around to asking me how long I'd been training. *sigh* I was polite at least, even when she drank my water bottle accidently.
Trained with a few other guys as well. One of whom complemented me, saying I fought as well as J., which is a pretty big compliment considering that J. is a 9th (dan) level black belt. Course, he could have just been hitting on me. I'm clueless about these things. Later trained with R. as we used this rather interesting, if extremly difficult weapon whose name I promptly forgot, but it basically consisted of half a sai (otherwise known as a knife with a prong) with a hole at the base of the hilt. A semi-long rope was tied to that hole and attatched to a fist sized ring on the other end. I'll need at least half a year training with it (that I probably won't get) to be anything near proficent with it.
Then for the last hour, we went down to the beach and went swimming, a lot of us in our clothing since our bathing suits were missing, hence the ninjas at the beach title. Fun swimming but the riptide was a bitch.
Am rather annoyed that I'm missing the Tai Kai (sp?) this year since it's supposed to be the last time the grand master's going to be visiting the US, and it happens to be happening very close to where I live, meaning I could have attended if I weren't going to be in France on a dig. Course, there's really not too much stopping me from going to train in Japan, but I'm slightly scared they'll make me sit under freezing waterfalls and chop wood or something as part of my training... It's rather depressing/annoying to realize that because of university getting in the way, I probably won't have my second dan for at least two years. *sigh*
How lovely to post a new story on ff.net then have the site go down. *thwaps the system*
Blueberry cheesecake pocky is quite good. Ja ne.
