I don't think I realized how stressed out I was this week until I hit the weekend. New teachers, car stuff, negotiations on lesson plans etc. really caught up with me.
On Sunday, I was invited to one of my student's choral thingies over in Ube, which turned out to be this huge three hour recital/production. It was actually pretty cool imo, with lots of random classical pieces and then songs in a bit of English, Latin and a lot of Japanese. I've never heard things like Gustav Holst's Jupiter sung with actual words for instance, much less in Japanese. The groups themselves were quite good though some of their dresses deserved to be featured on worst bridesmaid's dresses ever, or prom don'ts *L* I occupied myself with seeing how much of the songs I could understand and simply enjoying the music. I had a very cheerful grandmother in her seventies chat with me for awhile, and at the end when they all sang a song, i got lucky and was sitting next to a woman who had the words in hiragana so I could sing along. My only problem was that I was seriously falling asleep in the last hour since I was so tired from the week, and of course, since I was the only gaijin in the place, it was impossible for me to do so without being noticed.
I tried to wake myself up afterwards by going for a walk on the beach, but that only made me more somnolent, and I had to pass on a curry going away party thingy. I got some sleep and rested for the day so now I feel a lot better. This evening, M. (one of the new teachers who is on a Sat. schedule like I am) and I drove to Shimonoseki for Japanese lessons, and a bit of socializing afterwards with the others at Starbucks. I'm not all that interested in Starbucks but socializing is nice *g* I also really enjoyed driving back in the dark. Go figure.
I desperately want to make Star Wars and Indiana Jones icons atm, and I can since I have half the dvds here, but then I'd have to get out the dvds and actually watch them and I'm not sure if I'm up to that. The original SWs does deserve to have more icons though...
