There's something surreal about reading Marvel Knights Spider-man and seeing Spider-man argue with a pro-revealing your secret identity!Captain America, not to mention seeing Spidey snap at Iron Man. I kinda like that dynamic a lot better, but wouldn't miss the fallout from Peter's coming out for all the world *evil grin*
I can't keep Particle Man out of my head, and my mind keeps changing the worlds to really nonsenical things. Probably because I can never remember the actual words, but still. Particle Man is one of about ten songs that is permanently stuck in my head it seems (the others include 'The man on the flying trapeeze', 'kumby ya (sp?)", and one of the more low key Imperial themes from Star Wars. Yeah, my mind's a pretty scary place.)
I prepped all my classes in advance this week, which, while it makes me less stressed, probably wasn't a good idea since now I keep coming up with new idea of stuff to do in all those classes I prepped for where if I leave it until the night before, I don't have time to get creative and complicated. Then again, I'm pleased as punch that I actually improvised an entire lesson today based around photos from my trip, a simple writing assignment I made up on the spot, and a few rounds of Apples to Apples. I did have a traditional lesson planned, but I figured we could all benefit from a break in routine. Am also getting scarily good at teaching the Baby Class in the mornings. I didn't even run through my entire repetoire of songs (which I have timed to take up the exact half hour of the class).
It's kinda funny that while the vacation left me with the usual lazy urge not to want to teach, it also left me extremely energized and ready to face all the extra classes I'm teaching in the next few weeks. I'm kinda shocked by that. I'm used to going on vacations and coming home drained and exhausted and here I go off on one that involved intensive amounts of walking (my feet are still dirt stained and blistered *L*) and high heat, and yet I come back feeling a lot better than when I left. I guess what I'm trying to say is I never expected for a vacation to actually work the way it should and leave you feeling better off when it's finished. Heh.
Fans, woodblock prints, post cards, and anime pencil boards I bought while travelling are now decorating my apartment. I love my flat:) I also love living in the only country where you can buy a nice looking fan holder that will hang on your wall at a 100 yen shop.
Incidently, I never mentioned my birthday anime haul, did I? I treated myself to a visit to a huge anime/manga shop in Nara where I picked up cute pins of Urahara, Gaiden!Gojyo (have fogotten his name, as usual), Gin (from GetBackers), Edward Elric, and Kakashi. (This together with the ridiculous number of collectable Japanese pins (there's ones for every major city you visit) and novelty pins I picked up means my carry bag has over 25 pins on it. It looks pretty cool.) I got some Kenshin and Saiyuki Reload cards, a Roy Mustang slip folder (it's shiny) and three pencil boards - two of One Piece and one Naruto (Who is the lucky owner of the Kakashi and Yondaime with red umbrella's pencil board? Me! That's who!:D). I also bought a really cute cell phone attaching thingy that has the month August on it and a chibi Shikamaru walking through sunflowers pictured on it. When I bought it, the sales girl added on a little attachment with the exact date of my birthday on it too. I hadn't expected that so it's pretty cool, even if I do have to find something to attach it to now.
I feel really silly that I had to explain doujinshi and shonen ai to one of my Japanese friends. Not to mention lend her some of my doujin and manga. I've decided to simply blame it on
lucyjin;)
I've paid for the JLPT exam now, but I haven't sent in the app. yet. It'll probably take me a few more days to work up the courage. I'm really not sure if I'm going to be ready for the level 3 by Decemeber but it really seems pointless to take the 4 since I could pass it easily. Nerves are annoying things.
