Kirk and I started a marathon game of Civ. 4 last night with a huge, randomly generated map (that strangely resembles the US to a startling degree down to the gulf in the south east and the rockies in the west (blocking us from one other civ which will no doubt take us ages to conquer). I played Ghengis Khan and Kirk played Kublai. We got lucky and ended up in the temperate eastern area with me taking the north and Kirk taking the south. We played for several hours and just barely made it into the AD after conquering the Incas and going to ridiculous lengths to obtain horses (they were all in the plains in the centre of the giant map). Fun game, though I have a feeling we're going to be playing it for months now to finish it *L*

On Tuesday, Dad and I schlepped down to Mom's and picked up Kirk before heading to Sandy Hook. There, Dad explored while Kirk and I hit the beach for what seems to be becoming our annual beach visit. The water was nice and cold and we swam for about an hour before sun bathing a bit and reading books before heading home. We got Chinese take away while doing a marathon run of all of the current Leverage season since we'd been waiting on Kirk to watch it. Then we switched to Unnatural History and we were trying to figure out why it felt so familiar until we realized that the main character is basically a teenage Aang and his cousin is Sokka (and their female friend is a mature Hermione). No wonder the show works so well *g* It's basically National Treasure crossed over with Kung Fu the Legend Continues, only funnier.

And now I must eat lunch before driving the boy home then coming home to get ready for work. Am not looking forward to my four day work week this week, especially since it's over the weekend, but am consoling myself that this is probably the last time I have to do it, providing I have gotten my birthday off as asked for.
